Online tools help to bring clarity to health care reform

Keeping up with health care reform law changes can be tricky. Wouldn't it be nice if the information you need is available in one place? We thought so, too. That's why Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia has developed a website dedicated to health care reform. Important Individual HCR Product Update

Since the introduction of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), we've been working to create a product portfolio that blends mandated benefits with consumer choice.  It's our goal to continue to offer a wide selection of plans for individuals and their families that you, our valued business partner can count on, now and in the future. 

We are currently in the process of satisfying the necessary regulatory approvals and updating our systems to quote and administer the revised products.  We will be able to communicate our approved PPACA-compliant plans shortly. 

Until we are ready to introduce these plans, we will offer an interim portfolio that includes mandated benefits, with most plans at today's rates. Most of the products offered will look familiar to you. Additionally, we are pleased to introduce a new product into our portfolio, Premier Plus POS. See below for details on all of our Initial Product Offerings, effective September 20, 2010:

·         In Network Preventive covered at 100% not subject to deductible

·         Remove $500 deductible on brand drugs for the enhanced drug coverage

 

SmartSense POS 3rd Quarter 2010 Rates

Tonik

·         Unlimited Lifetime Maximums

·         In Network Preventive covered at 100% not subject to deductible

·         Removed any annual dollar maximums

·         No pre-existing on children <19

 

Tonik 4th Quarter 2010 Rates

Short  Term

  • No change; not affected by Health Care Reform or PPACA.

  • NA; new product.
  • Key selling points:  small coinsurance %, built in vision exams, maternity rider available on deductible plans of $2,500 or greater.

All of the initial health care reform products offer next day effective dates, so the first effective date for sales on Monday, September 20th will be on Tuesday, September 21st.

Additional Information

§  We will notify you when the rest of our health care reform product portfolio is available.

§  The current application will be used for the 9/20 product offerings. As always, we value our partnership with you.

§  The Agent Services Renewal Quoting tool will be unavailable until late October for 1st quarter 2011 renewal quoting while the rating tables are updated.

§  The applications submitted after 9/20/2010 will not be available on the Applicants portion of AgentServices until 9/23/2010. For application status, you can contact broker services at gabrokerservices@bcbsga.com.

§  The downgrade options and rates provided in the October rate notices will be honored through October 1, 2010 and will follow their standard renewal schedule.

§  You will receive an updated product movement options grid in a separate communication.
